Bathing in winter

It is no wonder that bathing is good for you.

When it comes to bathing in winter the benefit doubles--- According to an article at Jeonbuk Ilbo, our immune system drops 30% per 1-degree Celsius drop in body temperature. So, soaking yourself in warm or hot water is very, very good.

Hot bathing (42-45 degrees Celsius) proliferates metabolism and secretes lactic acid, which helps quicker recovery from fatigue. Bathing in water 40-41 degrees Celsius is good to ease the pain in the back, shoulder and neck. Water measuring around 36-39 degrees Celsius is known to prompt blood circulation, ease of the muscle and leading to deep sleep.

Samsung Medical Center's column for South Korea's major portal site Naver reckons several things to follow when bathing in winter.

1. Do not scrub hard: Koreans love exfoliating but in winter, refrain from scrubbing for 2-3 weeks after scrubbing. Use mild soaps and do not use exfoliating towels either.

2. Moisturize after bathing: Do not press the skin with the towel to dry the skin after bath. And always apply moisturizer such as body cream before leaving the bathroom.

You may want to choose body creams that contain glycerin, urea, AHA, Propylene Glycol that can provide intensive moisturizing effect.
